Hi!
Welcome to Pawas Kitchen!
My name is Paola, and I’m starting a blog! Even though I was never the writing girl, my 30s brought me to this new phase in life. Please be gentle with your criticism. I am not a writer or a professional cook. I’m a mom and wife who loves cooking and sharing it with my loved ones. I make all those generational recipes that have been inherited in my family,
They both taught me generations of recipes and tools to better create dishes with what I had available in my kitchen and the fridge. As my grandma always says, “The kitchen is like a laboratory; if you’re not willing to experiment, get out,” and experiment we have always done and always will do.
A little backstory: My grandma was the first person who allowed me to cook in her kitchen. She sat me by her stove since I was around 2 years old and always let me help while she cooked. My second teacher was my mom, who always gave me the freedom to use the kitchen and whatever was in the fridge and pantry to experiment as I pleased.
I am originally from Monterrey, Mexico, and my family is from Sonora. My taste buds are a fusion of Sonora Cuisine intertwined with Nuevo Leon’s cuisine. I lived in Puebla for a couple of years and have traveled around many parts of Mexico, so my country’s cuisine is strong in my heart and my flavors.
I have two goals in this journey. First, to share with you what my family and I eat, create, and love, and second, to have a place where my children can come and follow those recipes that will bring them fond memories when I am no longer here.
A couple of years ago I moved to the United States, joining the love of my life, and we have created a beautiful family. While pregnant, I started craving so much food from Mexico but couldn’t find specific dishes around my area. What did I do? I learned how to cook them following the recipes of family members, Mexican chefs, social media cooks, and anywhere I could find a recipe that covered my specific cravings.
Join me on this delicious journey of knowledge and experimentation. Let the discoveries begin!
From whatever corner of the world you are reading this, I want to thank you for your time and welcome you to Pawas Kitchen.
